SERGEJ MAINGARDT | COMPOSER

Born in 1981, studied electronic composition at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and media and cultural analysis at the Heinrich-Heine-Universit.t in Düsseldorf. He understands music as an important contemporary art to reflect the rapid global change in the world. His music is influenced by modern technologies and the way they change human perception. Dealing with social and cultural phenomena permeates his music. In addition to his solo projects, he collaborates with choreographers, video and pop artists. In addition to numerous performances in Germany and Europe, most of his pieces have been played internationally in very different contexts: from Canada, Panama and Mexico to Pakistan, Vietnam, Laos and South Africa.

Sergej Maingardt

JENS STANDKE | VIDEO ARTIST

born 1982 in Georgsmarienhütte, works as a media artist and designer in Cologne. He studied at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts and received his diploma with distinction in 2013. His final project Vinylactites / Vinylagmites was awarded the Cologne Design Prize 2013. Since 2015 he has been working as a video artist for the independent theater ensemble WEHR51 together with Sergej Maingardt. So in 2019 the play IS - German Robbers in Jihad (freely based on Schiller) was created, which is nominated for the Cologne Theater Prize 2020. His artistic work has been presented in galleries, museums and festivals, for example at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Cologne, at the European Media Art Festival, at the Marl Media Art Prize or at "critical make" in the House of Electronic Arts in Basel.

“For me, working in VR or with 360 ° media is a liberation from logical conditions. You can create illogical spaces or other absurdities that occupy you so much because of the closed headset that you sometimes forget how to perceive your own body in real physical space.

"Blindfolded" for me is a virtual trip that hopefully reverberates in the non-virtual environment.
